| WPI Inc began in 1962 as a small manufacturer of amplifiers and
stimulators used in nerve, skin and muscle research. More
than 30 years later, we have grown to become the world
leader in TEER measurement, nitric oxide sensing and more.
WPI's
numerous innovations include:
- ISO-NO
Mark II, the world's leading nitric oxide sensor.
- EVOM,
the most widely used voltohmmeter for TEER research.
- EVC4000,
the most advanced epithelial voltage and amplifier
clamp available.
In
1990 we moved from our original home in New Haven,
Connecticut, to Sarasota, Florida. As worldwide demand for
WPI products increased, offices were opened in London,
Berlin, Tokyo and Melbourne. Today, WPI continues to
diversify and innovate -- our latest catalogue contains over
1500 items such as data acquisition systems, digital
cameras, glass capillaries, pre-pulled glass
micropipettes, microsyringe pumps, fibre optic
spectrometers, micromanipulators, electrodes and more. Our
newest products include a popular line of inexpensive
microdissecting instruments, adjustable pipetters and
binocular microscopes.
WPI Inc Quality Statement
World
Precision Instruments, Inc. (WPI) produces and supplies
quality products for the worldwide biomedical research
community. WPI is dedicated to serving its customers by
providing excellent service and products that meet or
exceed customer expectations, as well as conform to their
stated specifications. Quality management, the major tool
used to achieve these objectives, requires continuous
process improvement and WPI has been working steadily to
create and implement new and improved process mechanisms
throughout its systems.
The product realization process at WPI incorporates
several key controlling elements as outlined briefly
below:
New
Product design, development and transfer: accomplished
by a team comprised of R&D, Engineering, Marketing,
Production and Publications (and others on an as needed
basis).
Design
changes: changes to products manufactured in-house are
managed by the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) Procedure.
The ECN Procedure is documented and implemented by a
product specific team that includes R&D, Engineering,
Marketing, Production and Publications (and others on an
as needed basis).
Inspection
and testing of Incoming raw materials, components and
finished product: all vendors are pre-approved by
Purchasing and all materials are required to meet either
OEM or WPI specifications determined by
Engineering/R&D, as applicable.
Inspection
of finished product: final product produced at WPI
undergoes rigorous quality control (QC) testing to assure
conformance to WPI performance or other specifications.
OEM products, purchased for distribution, undergo
inspection and may, in addition, be subject to QC testing.
When appropriate, product will be calibrated and/or
certified. Non-conforming product is rejected and
corrective and preventive action is implemented.
Storage:
inventory is tightly monitored and controlled by
Production using a manufacturing software system.
Inventory is maintained in an area with limited access for
authorized personnel only.
Distribution:
prior to shipment, sales orders undergo two checks. The
first check occurs as the order is prepared and is
compared against the sales order (packing slip) and the
second is performed during the final packing by shipping
personnel. Country specific voltage requirements, when
applicable, are identified and confirmed earlier in the
process during generation of the sales order.
WPI
has enjoyed a 42-year history of providing excellent
customer service and products. We are proud of this
accomplishment and believe that our commitment to quality
systems is essential to our past and future success.
World Precision Instruments Ltd, UK
