Platinum/Iridium
Platinum/iridium
wire -- uncoated (PTxxxx) and Teflon-coated (PTTxxxx)
-- is an alloy of 90% platinum and 10% iridium, giving excellent tensile
strength and corrosion resistance. Uncoated pure platinum wire (PTPxxx)
is 99.95% pure.
Silver
Annealed
silver wire (AGWxxxx), 99.99% pure, is available in five diameters;
three of those sizes are also available with a Teflon coating (AGTxxxx),
and the 0.010-in. wire can be ordered with a PVC coating (AGPVCxxxx).
Stainless Steel
Stainless
steel wire (SSxxxxx) is type 316.
Teflon-coated
stainless steel (type 304) wire (SSTxxxx) is available in
25-ft and 50-ft lengths. The Teflon coating is 150 micro-in. thick
(4 µm).
Thermocouple
Thermocouple wire for temperature monitoring. TCJ3050, with an
iron/constantan pair of wires, can be used in inert, vacuum, reducing
or oxidizing atmospheres (iron conductor may rust in moist or low
temperature applications). TCK3050 has a chromel/alumel pair,
for use in inert or oxidizing atmosphere at 1500-1800 °F.
