Photodiodes
Designed for low light level detection,
current resolution is typically 1 picoampere. Output shown
on a 31/2-digit LCD display is also available at a
recorder output connector. An adjustable offset current
permits adjustment to zero ambient light or leakage
current effects.
Visible
Fibre Optic Detector

A sensitive silicon planar photodiode is
the heart of this photometric sensor. Used in the
photovoltaic mode and connected to WPI's wide range
digital picoammeter, VISD lets the user measure
visible light with exquisite sensitivity over a wide range
of light intensity. With a sensitivity of 0.5 microAmperes
per microWatt of incident radiation, the spectral range
extends from 400 to over 900 nm.
UV Fibre Optic Detector

At the heart of this new fibre optic
ultraviolet sensor is a new UV-sensitive photodiode. As
shown in its spectral response graph, it has virtually no
response to visible light ("solar blind") - no
need to use a visible light cut-off filter. Attach an
optical fibre (UV enhanced, such as WPI's FO series cables
with SMA connectors) to the source or view the UV light
directly through the SMA fibre optic fitting. Connect the
output BNC connector directly to a sensitive
current-to-voltage amplifier such as WPI's Photodetector
Amplifier PDA1.
