 WPI Acquires SI-Heidelberg

World Precision Instruments Inc (WPI) is proud to announce the acquisition of SI-Heidelberg, experts in Muscle Physiology research.

With the purchase of SI-Heidelberg, WPI returns to its root in providing high-end total solutions for an entire research market segment

so says newly appointed SI-Heidelberg Managing Director Harm Knot. He continues,

with a complete line of research solutions for the muscle market, from cutting edge single cell systems to near "in vivo" whole muscle research systems, combined with the synergy of WPI's existing product lines in microscopy, electrophysiology, surgery tools, tissue and animal handling, there is no need to go anywhere else for the best products at the best price anywhere.

SI-Heidelberg has manufactured instruments for muscle research since 1988. The large number of unique instruments are designed for the investigation of intact or chemically skinned muscle preparations as well as the investigation of single muscle cells. The instruments may be used to study isometric forces, isotonic shortening, afterloaded contractions, slack test, quickstretch release, sarcomere length, intracellular Calcium by FURA, ATPase activity, oxygen consumption and pCa-force relation with gradient method.

One of the outstanding features of the SI-Heidelberg range is their modular composition. This allows the adapting of each instrument exactly to the experimental needs of the end-user, allowing easy upgrading of existing systems and/or integration into self-constructed systems. World Precision Instruments have served the Life Science community for over 40 years, providing novel and advanced solutions to researchers’ needs.
