Microscopes & Cameras

Microscopes & Cameras

WPI carry a wide range of microscopes, digital cameras and video cameras. Purposefully designed to meet your needs.

Microscopes are a standard laboratory tool, but purchasing the right microscope for a particular application can be a challenge. First, consider how you will use the instrument. Are you looking at slides, dissecting a small animal or performing a surgery? (The application dictates the necessary working distance and power of magnification.) What kind of a stand will you be using? (Boom stand, articulating arm or post stand) Will the microscope be used in a classroom setting? (A trinocular scope offers the option of including a camera.) Will you need a camera? (A camera allows you to project the microscope image on a PC or TV or to take still images.) The answers to these questions help you determine the required working distance, level of magnification, type of mounting stand and hardware required.

Stereo Microscopes

Our diverse range of stereo microscopes at World Precision Instruments means you can find the exact type you need for your laboratory applications. From articulating microscopes to zoom binocular stereo microscopes to microinjection models, we carry many specific microscopes. In addition, we also offer specialized microscopes for specific applications, such as teaching microscopes with built-in camera feeds for remote learning and more.

Inverted Microscopes

An inverted microscope features an innovative design where the light source and condenser are above the specimen stage while scientists situate the subjects below. This spatial arrangement is particularly advantageous when observing living cells or tissues in culture dishes or larger specimens that necessitate a greater working distance. It’s a pivotal tool in cell biology, developmental biology, and microbiology, where researchers use it for tasks ranging from routine live-cell checks to advanced fluorescence imaging assays. At World Precision Instruments, our inverted microscopes with cameras allow you to get a better look at your research subjects, leading to more accurate recordings and experiments.

Inverted microscopes like these are perfect for video recording and photography.

Surgical Microscopes

Surgical microscopes are indispensable tools in medical and research facilities, offering the clarity and precision required for complex procedures. With high-quality optics and a design tailored for a longer working distance, these microscopes provide researchers and surgeons with the ability to work with remarkable accuracy. Whether you're performing intricate surgical tasks or closely examining delicate specimens, surgical microscopes provide advanced optical technology that promises superior visualization of fine details.

Multiphoton Microscopes

Two-photon microscopy and Three-photon microscopy is used for live cell imaging of condense biological specimens. Molecules can be visualized deeply within the specimen enabling 3D imaging of animals, embryos, organs, organoids and tissue slices. Multiphoton microscopy works at higher wavelength frequency than confocal microscopy leading to less photobleaching and photodamage.

Live Cell Imaging

An emerging area of research (Live Cell Imaging) is growing rapidly. The number of PubMed articles published on live cell imaging has bloomed in the last several years, and is 10 times greater this year than in 2003. WPI, working in tandem with researchers from InVivo Scientific, has develop a cutting-edge line of products specifically for live cell imaging.

In the past dead cells were stained and examined under a microscope. Now, small incubators can be placed on a microscope stagetop and live cells in culture can be observed directly. This opens a whole new world for exploration.
